Woodlawn is an authentically restored c. 1798 Manor House in the colonial English tradition. Today the atmosphere of the 1700's transcends the intervening centuries and reveals a rich history that links the people of this region to important aspects of the culture of St. Mary's County - their livelihood as well as their religious, political, and environmental heritage. Relics of the past are present throughout the house, including clothing and metal forms, trap doors in cupboards and floors, two hundred year old notes and signatures on original plaster and wood, and a c.1733 deed from England revealing survey, tax and transfer rights for Woodlawn's sister farm, Jubilee.
The grounds include formal English boxwood gardens that were exported 300 years ago from England and magnificent giant oaks within the 11 acres of manicured lawns. The Wine Cottages at Woodlawn serve wines from SLACK Winery, with 14 new wines being released during the year.
